Dear Mr. Surra:
You recently called in response to my earlier request [Reference 1] and
asked for more detail on the travel charges. I remarked that the request
was based on a per diem rate of $30. In subsequent discussion,
you indicated that the per diem rate for Stockholm according to your
policies is $46, and you convinced me that the higher rate could be paid, hence
this request.
For Karl Pingle and Arthur Samuel we now have:
.bs crbreak narrow 2,40; turn on "#→∂";
7 days per diem in Stockholm @ $46→$322
IFIP Congress registration→85
∂5Total→$407
.end
For Jerome Feldman, we have the same expenses plus $639.90 air fare,
for a total of $1046.90.
Michael Gordon has now completed the first half of the proposed round
trip at a cost of $488.40 air fare and two days per diem @ $30. If
transatlantic air fares were to remain constant for the next year
(an unlikey event), his total trip cost would be about $1036.
Thank you for you prompt approval of the TV transmitter purchase [Reference 2].
I note that the request for
a mechanical arm and a memory interface are still pending [Reference 3].
In view of the fact that the people attending the IFIP Congress encountered
out-of-pocket expenses substantially in excess of the $30/day rate, we
appreciate your calling to our attention the more liberal policy.
